The RPTA was founded in 1966 and has a long-standing tradition of being a strong paddle tennis organization. The RPTA’s goal is to promote and grow the great sport of Platform Tennis to all Rowayton residents. Membership is restricted to Rowayton, CT residents (the 6th Taxing District of Norwalk).
We have four well maintained courts located at the Rowayton Community Center (behind the Rowayton Library) as well as a recently refurbished Paddle Hut with a gas fireplace for use by members and their guests. The RTPA has a volunteer Board of Directors who manage the organization, maintain the courts, oversee league play, handle the finances, recruit new members and have social functions, etc.
Dues are paid online. Court reservations are also made online with a user name and password, which will be issued once dues are paid. Several options are available for membership, from family to single to junior memberships. We have worked hard to keep membership dues at a minimum which makes joining the RPTA a great value. The courts are strictly for use by RPTA members only and Rowayton residents are prohibited from playing as guests so we encourage all interested players who live in Rowayton to join the RPTA!
We have a Paddle Professional available for adult clinics and private lessons. We have a strong Junior Clinic program for children ranging from second grade through high school. The RPTA has adult league play in the Fairfield County Paddle Tennis League with several men’s teams from Division 1 through Division 7 and 2 women’s teams. Paddle Tennis has traditionally been a ‘winter’ sport, but recently with the introduction of new paddle balls designed for warmer weather, summer paddle is now being played and the RPTA has fielded both a men’s and women’s team for the new summer league. Check out the details on this website.
Any questions or comments are welcome and can be directed to individual board members depending on their responsibilities. Hope to see you out on the courts this season… play well!
